Redesigning the Argenfincas Mobile App Experience - Your Online Distributor of Organic Beverages

Argenfincas is an Argentine wine distributor, founded in Buenos Aires in 2015. They reached out to us to address a design problem with their mobile application, as they were struggling to sell certain products. To tackle this challenge, I employed the Design Thinking research method, which involved conducting surveys, interviews, and user testing to understand user needs, identify issues, and uncover potential improvements for the existing application. Based on this information, I created a user persona and user journey to grasp user expectations, goals, and context when using the application.

To begin, I conducted brief interviews with 16 users, aiming to identify patterns, determine their familiarity with similar apps, gather beverage preferences, and gather any suggestions they may have had. Additionally, through user testing, valuable data was collected regarding user interaction with the app. Finally, feedback was requested to gauge user sentiment and overall experience.

When sharing their responses, I found that the majority were not familiar with apps of this kind. Additionally, I identified the types of beverages they preferred in order to organize the stock accordingly. Confirming my suspicions, I realized the need for a search function and a space where users can share their opinions and experiences.

Through user testing, which involved simple functional tasks, users were asked to attempt to purchase a Malbec wine and an oil product, and then provide their feedback. Based on this data, I noticed that the app was fairly intuitive and easy to use. However, it lacked functionalities that could be offered by a search engine. Furthermore, I found the interfaces to be quite cluttered.

Difficulty

With the research conducted, I created the user persona, representing the primary user of the application, their goals, needs, and pain points. I envisioned their user journey as a tool to contextualize the person’s approach to the application, identifying weak points in this process and opportunities.

Conclusion

The use of methodologies was crucial to achieve the result. Ideation can be the most overwhelming stage of the process, in my opinion, as you consider the infinite possibilities to address the identified need. However, using appropriate methodologies, iterating, and testing with users makes the process simpler and more manageable. It also builds confidence in the defined direction and allows for refining the idea throughout each iteration.
