Brief

How would we define the situation?
In our extensive interview with the nutritionist, we uncovered a situation characterized by time constraints experienced by many patients, resulting in their inability to contemplate what to cook. This leads to resorting to unhealthy food options, disrupting their dietary progress and necessitating a restart of their eating regimen. Additionally, a significant number of patients lack culinary creativity, causing monotonous meals and culinary boredom.

What pain points make this a problem?
The pain points in this situation are primarily time constraints, unhealthy food choices, disrupted dietary progress, the need for dietary regimen restarts, and culinary boredom due to a lack of kitchen creativity.

What do we want to improve?
We aim to enhance the overall dietary experience for patients by addressing these pain points. This includes helping patients manage their time more efficiently, encouraging healthier food choices, providing culinary inspiration, and ultimately making it easier for them to discover and prepare diverse and delicious recipes.

What limits us?
One of the limitations we face is the time constraints imposed on patients, which restrict their ability to plan and cook healthy meals. Additionally, we need to overcome the challenge of inspiring creativity in the kitchen for those who may lack it and finding efficient ways to present diverse and appealing recipes.

Solution and Goals

When I started my research, it was of utmost importance to create a product that offered something innovative. I noticed that there were many similar apps, but they didn’t fit my vision. My goal was to create a culinary ally, a place where users could save their favorite meals, customize them, enjoy a user-friendly recipe layout while cooking, seek inspiration, and realize that following a diet or a specific way of eating can be pleasurable with diverse and delicious meals.

User Research

To understand the problem and the users’ needs, I conducted a survey using Google Forms and obtained responses from 45 of the doctor’s patients. Here are some of their answers and the data I collected:

Wireframes sketches

After gathering essential information through Zoom meetings with the product owner, user interviews, and surveys, creating the user persona, and mapping out their customer journey. Then, by researching and comparing with competitors, we developed wireframes for subsequent prototyping and conducted user testing, where we analyzed recordings of 23 patients using a prototype, scrutinized heatmaps, and assessed mis-clicks. We used all this data to iterate and redesign, resulting in the final outcome shown below.
